Gear Team Suits Blue and gold team suits are available for the Hampton Dolphins, but they are not required. Team suits should be reserved for MEETS ONLY, which will keep them looking good longer. Most suits fade, discolor, and stretch over time, so for practice, more inexpensive "practice" suits are recommended—or "old" team suits.Team suits can be ordered from Knabe's Swim and Trophy Shop at (412) 824-6540. Coaches can help with size recommendations—the general rule is "If you can get it on, it fits!" Suits should be worn as tight as possible to reduce drag. Team Caps Bright yellow team caps, imprinted in blue with "HD" are available for the Hampton Dolphins, and they are strongly recommended for meets. The team cap makes HD swimmers easy to spot.Team caps can be ordered through Coach Laurie. Training Equipment Coaches utilize various types of training equipment to enhance training, work specific skills or muscle groups, and provide variation to workouts.All swimmers should purchase their own fins, and more advanced swimmers should purchase hand paddles. Kick boards and pull buoys are available at the pool. Coaches recommend purchasing a mesh bag for swimmers to carry all equipment, an extra pair of goggles and an extra cap. All equipment should be clearly marked with the swimmer’s name or initials. Coaches will mark items upon giving out equipment. All equipment exposed to chlorinated pool water dry rots over time. Hand paddles can be re-strapped at poolside by asking a coach. Fins, hand paddles, and mesh bags may be purchased directly from Coach Laurie via check (only) made payable to Hampton Dolphins. When a swimmer outgrows fins or paddles, the club appreciates the old ones being donated to the “lending box” for those who forget or do not yet have equipment. Goggles, practice caps, and practice suits may be purchased from any sports gear retailer.
HD Apparel The club generally holds an apparel sale of customized HD clothing once a year, in the fall. Parent volunteers coordinate the sale, making clothing samples and order forms available to members.Past apparel sales have included short- and long-sleeved t-shirts, polos, hoodies, sweatpants, warm-ups, flannel pants, boxer shorts, jackets, and drawstring bags. |
